Your privacy,clearly explained.
This Privacy Policy explains how GoThere handles information when you use the service. GoThere is designed to work without requiring an account.
Information you enter
When you use GoThere, you may enter an origin, destination and journey preferences. This information is used to calculate and display route options.
Location data
GoThere only uses your device location if you choose a feature that needs it, such as Current Location or nearby stops. When you do, your approximate coordinates are sent to our mapping and routing provider (Google) to work out routes and nearby places. GoThere does not require an account and does not intentionally store your live location.
Device motion
If you use the shake-for-an-idea feature, GoThere may ask your permission to access your device's motion sensors. This is used only on your device, in the moment, to detect a shake. Motion data is never collected, stored or sent anywhere.
Contact form
If you email us through the contact form, your name, email address and message are delivered to our inbox through our email provider (Resend) so we can reply. We use these details only to respond to you.
Third-party services we use
GoThere relies on a small set of providers to run: Google (maps, directions and Google Analytics), Vercel (website hosting and a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool), Upstash (caching), Resend (sending email from the contact form), and TransLink / Translink Open Data (timetable and live service data). Each one only receives the limited information it needs for its function, and handles it under its own privacy policy.
Cookies and analytics
GoThere uses Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the service is used so we can improve it. Google Analytics sets cookies and may process identifiers, your approximate location and your IP address. We also use Vercel Analytics, which is cookieless and does not track you across other websites, and a small first-party measure of where visits come from (for example which social link), which is stored in an anonymous, aggregated form. You can decline or remove analytics cookies through your browser settings or Google's opt-out tools, and GoThere stays fully usable.
Overseas disclosure
Some of these providers store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States (for example Google) and other regions used by our hosting and infrastructure providers. By using GoThere you acknowledge that your information may be handled overseas, under the protections those providers offer.
How information is used
Information may be used to provide journey results, improve route recommendations, monitor service performance, fix bugs, prevent misuse and improve the overall user experience.
Data sharing
GoThere does not sell your personal information. Information may be shared with the service providers listed above where necessary to operate, secure or improve the platform, or where required by law.
Data retention
GoThere keeps information only for as long as reasonably needed for service operation, security, analytics, legal compliance or product improvement.
Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, where required by applicable Australian privacy laws. To make a request, contact us using the details below.
Important
Location is optional
You can use GoThere without sharing your live location. If you allow location access, your browser or device controls that permission and you can turn it off at any time.
