About the Princess Alexandra Hospital
The Princess Alexandra Hospital is one of Queensland's major teaching and research hospitals, on Ipswich Road at Woolloongabba on Brisbane's southside.
Like every big hospital, its parking is in demand and metered by the hour, while the busway station outside the door puts the city about ten minutes away. For most appointments the bus or the train to Dutton Park is the calmer option.
On the day
Arrive a service early for appointments and let the busway do the work. If mobility is a factor, the busway station is the closest step-free arrival point to the main entrance.
Parking at the Princess Alexandra Hospital
β οΈ Paid parking nearby
It is not free. The PA is served by privately operated multi-storey car parks charging tiered rates that climb the longer you stay, and they fill early on weekday mornings when the clinics are running. Metro South Health publishes the current rates and hours, and that page is the only source worth trusting on the day: the operators change them, and third-party sites quoting a figure are usually out of date.
Where people park instead
- π ΏοΈ Metered street parking around Woolloongabba and Buranda, limited and time-restricted
- π ΏοΈ Park 'n' ride at a station further out and take the busway in
PA Hospital busway station is at the door, with buses every few minutes, and Dutton Park train station is a short walk. For an appointment rather than an emergency, 50 cents each way beats circling a full car park by the hour.

What's the nearest station to the PA Hospital?+
PA Hospital busway station is right outside on the South East Busway, with Dutton Park train station a short walk away.
Should I drive or take public transport to the PA?+
Public transport, if you can: the busway stops at the hospital's door every few minutes and beats paying for hospital parking by the hour.
Is there parking at the PA Hospital, and is it free?+
It is not free. The hospital is served by privately operated multi-storey car parks charging tiered rates that climb the longer you stay, and they fill early on weekday mornings when clinics are running. Metro South Health publishes the current rates and opening hours on its own parking page, which is the one to check on the day. If you are coming for an appointment rather than an emergency, the busway station at the door costs 50c and removes the circling entirely.
How much is public transport to the venue?+
Every trip on the South East Queensland network is a flat 50c fare with a go card, your phone or a bank card.
