About Riverstage
Riverstage is a grassed amphitheatre opened in 1989 in the City Botanic Gardens, inspired by the temporary stage built for World Expo 88 the year before. On the river at the edge of the CBD, it's Brisbane's favourite outdoor concert venue, hosting festivals and touring acts under the open sky.
The lawn slopes down to a stage by the river and holds a big open-air crowd, with the city lights behind the stage once the sun goes down. On a warm Brisbane night it's one of the best places in town to catch a show.
On the night
Bring something to sit on for the grass and get there early for a good spot on the slope. The whole crowd leaves at once at the end, so know your last train from Central or Roma Street before the headliner finishes.
