Gold Coast line status

Live closures & works · Brisbane ↔ Gold Coast trains

The Gold Coast line is the network's workhorse — commuters north, beach-goers south, and the corridor that cops the most trackwork in the feed. This page is its live pulse: what's closed or delayed right now, what's actually departing Helensvale, and the moves when the line's down.

When the line's down

Weekend closures usually mean buses between the affected stations — the why is in our trackwork guide — while the G:link tram keeps the coastal strip moving regardless. Heading home late from either end, the last train home guides cover Helensvale, Robina and Varsity Lakes, and how often this line runs late is tracked on our reliability page.

Gold Coast line questions

Is the Gold Coast train line running today?+

The live panel above shows every current alert on the corridor — closures, trackwork and delays — and the Helensvale board shows what's actually departing. No alerts and trains on the board means normal running.

Why is the Gold Coast line closed so often on weekends?+

It shares its corridor with the Beenleigh line, and that southside corridor carries some of the network's heaviest trackwork — much of it tied to Cross River Rail. Closures are planned and announced ahead, with buses replacing trains on the affected section.

How do I get to the Gold Coast when the trains are down?+

Replacement buses cover the closed section — slower, so add time. Once at Helensvale, the G:link tram runs independently of the rail line and keeps the coast moving.

How long is the train from Brisbane to the Gold Coast?+

Around an hour to Helensvale from Central and roughly 70 minutes to Robina, service depending — then the tram or a bus for the beach end. The journey planner gives the live door-to-door answer.
